Project Phoenix

The Asian American Health Coalition's Project Phoenix is funded through a grant from the Komen Houston Affiliate and the Avon Foundation. It provides free mammograms and breast health education to low income, uninsured Asian and other medically underserved women. To find out if you are eligible for this service, call the HOPE clinic at (713) 773-0803 and ask for Karen Tso or Amy Chiu.

Diabetes Materials in Chinese and Vietnamese

With the support of the Texas Diabetes Council, the National Asian Women's Health Organization (NAWHO) and the Harris County Hospital District, the AAHC produced diabetes educational materials in Chinese and Vietnamese.

They include:

  • -Nutrition Handbook in Chinese and Vietnamese, $5/copy (bulk rates available)
  • -Food Guide Pyramid refrigerator magnets ($1 each)
  • -Diabetes videos in Mandariin and Vietnamese ($25 each)

Consumer Health Information for Asians (CHIA) project

The Consumer Health Information for Asians (CHIA) project is a partnership with the Texas Medical Center Library. Through the CHIA project, health information in Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean is provided at kiosks throughout Houston.
